Design Observer

Design Observer is the leading site at the intersection of design, photography, illustration, architecture, urbanism, sustainability, social innovation and visual culture. The Design Observer App offers a quick way to survey what is new everyday, as well as providing a better reading experience for all articles. You can browse the site by channel, by author or by topic. Our special Mondrian view allows you to scan articles by key images. Design Observer publishes over 300 essays a year, as well as reviews, interviews, photo essays and slideshows, podcasts and videos. Over 100 writers contribute to our site each year, so there are many voices on the site including Michael Bierut, William Drenttel, Jessica Helfand, Julie Lasky and Nancy Levinson. For Design Observer, design is a big, broad zone — graphic design, product design, interaction and information design, architecture and cities, spaces and places. We have a special love for the design of popular culture — especially movies and books. We also venture frequently into politics and social issues, and take a broad view of the culture around us.
